Baleal - Peniche
Baleal is a small peninsula (former island) located north of Peniche, in the region West of Portugal, separated from the mainland by a tombolo, forming a beach of fine white sand. The continuity of the cove there are also the islet of the Doves and the Outside islander.
Baleal inherited the name of the function that these rocks have played in the past whaling site.
Inserted in the municipality of Peniche, Baleal became place of summer with a potential for water sports. Because of its type format peninsula, on the north side of the narrow strip of sand that connects the headland baleal the mainland, who is on the beach can be both back and front and the sea. Cut the only road access to the town, has nice bars and restaurants with outdoor seating, great alternative for colder days. Sea a little dangerous and windy in winter. On the south side the sea is calmer and the wind is smoother, especially in summer.
Baleal and Peniche offer unique conditions in Europe for the practice of surf and body-board, existing on the local schools for teaching all water sports.
